Two names, one evening, a pair who already know each other
An evening with two companions has a different weather to it. The conversation never stalls, nothing has to be carried by any one person, and a quiet drink somewhere has a habit of turning into the most sociable night of a week. The desk only ever pairs women who are glad of each other's company, which is why most of the pairs here already share a postcode and a set of habits.
There is no separate figure for two. Each companion is booked on her own line from the ordinary ladder, so two hours with two companions is two figures of £500, and a four hour dinner for three is two of £900. Nothing is added on top of that, and each fee is handed to the companion it belongs to, in person, when they arrive.
Suited to two names, one evening
Pairs who set off from the same corner
Three women are anchored in Camden Town, which means any two of them can meet at the lock and walk in together already talking, and that is worth more to an evening than any amount of arranging.
Three more work Islington, from the theatre end of Upper Street down to the square, and a pair from there will have a view on where you ought to be eating before you have finished asking the question.
What a table for three actually needs
A round table or a corner banquette rather than a long narrow one, so that nobody is talking across anybody. Reserve for three in your own name and send the desk the room and the hour, and the two of them arrive together a few minutes early. Islington is good at this, and so is the quiet end of Camden once the High Street has thinned out to the people who came for the music.
Three hours with a pair
Three hours is the usual length, which is two figures of £700, and it falls into an easy order. The two of them meet a quarter of an hour before they meet you, which is why they arrive already mid conversation. Then a drink somewhere with room for three, then the table, then the walk, and with a pair who know the district the walk is never a debate. Along the canal from the lock, or down Upper Street from the Almeida, they will move the evening from one place to the next without either of them having to say so. Tell the desk whether you would rather they led or followed, and they will do whichever you ask.
Choosing the two
Name both if you already know. Name one and let the desk find her partner for the night. Or describe the evening and leave the pairing to us entirely, which is what most guests do and usually the better idea. Contrast tends to work: somebody tall and composed beside somebody quick and small makes a livelier table than two of a kind. The whole list is arranged by district if you would rather start from geography than from character.
Two diaries instead of one
Because two evenings have to line up rather than one, a duo wants a few hours of notice at the very least, and a weekend is best asked for by midweek. Late starts in NW1 are the easiest of all, since the women who work the canal side keep late hours anyway. If the pair you picked first is not free, the desk says so plainly and puts two who are in front of you instead.
What a duo evening is
Two companions, one evening, and a few hours of livelier company than a table for two can produce. It is booked on exactly those terms and on no others. The two of them are there for your table, your conversation and your night out; nothing beyond time and companionship is offered, nothing beyond it is priced, and neither of them is asked for anything further by us or by anybody else.
Everything is agreed courteously in writing before the night, both figures sit on the same rates ladder, and the steps are the ones set out on the booking page.
Two sheets worth reading first
Two names, one evening, in detail
Is it cheaper per companion?
No. Each keeps her own figure from the standard ladder, and the desk quotes the two of them added together before you confirm anything.
Do the two know each other?
Usually, and particularly when they share a district. The desk only pairs women who are happy to spend an evening in each other's company.
Can they arrive at different times?
They generally travel together. If one is joining later, both arrival times go into the confirmation in writing so that nobody is guessing.
Can a duo be booked for dinner?
Yes. Book the four hour dinner date for each of them and reserve a table for three somewhere with a corner in it.
What if one of the pair becomes unavailable?
You hear it straight away and get two names who suit the evening just as well. You are free to accept, choose again or cancel at no cost.
Can I book two for a single hour?
You can, at £250 each, though an hour with three people in it is mostly introductions. Ninety minutes or two hours gives a table of three room to settle, and it is the length the desk will usually suggest.
Other evenings we set up
The sign stays lit
Give the desk an hour and a street, and the rest of the night is arranged quietly, anywhere from the lock at Camden to the Broadway on the ridge.
